Holum Trio met at The Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo early 2011. Their music developed from straight up jazz to explore the blend of improvised jazz and modern melodic pop music.
The musicians versatile musical backgrounds combines elements from a wide area of genres. They strive to make their music outgoing and available yet unpredictable and open.
Since their first concert in the autumn of 2011 the band has visited many of Norways big jazz scenes and festivals and toured big parts of the country.
In the summer of 2013 they recorded their debutalbum in the renowned Ocean Sound Recordings in Giske, Norway. The album “Heim” is being released on NORCD january 2015. You can find a small teaser on the soundcloud-link on the right hand side.
The album is inspired by the beautiful nature and atmosphere in the bandleaders hometown on the westcoast of Norway, hence the name of the album and titletrack “Heim” (home). He wants the music to be perceived as scenic and rural and reflect the dramatic and dynamic surroundings on the Norwegian coastline.
